St Margaret's & N. Twick Cllr, Chair - Transport. Comms, runner, husband & father of 3. Published & promoted by K Mander (Lib Dem) 108 South Worple Way SW14 8TN
Big news (subject to contract) - from this Summer. Richmond will be increasing the number of e-bikes available to residents from 1,100 to 1,500. Our new provider, Forest will offer full access to EVERY neighbouring area & user PRICES (more in due course) are very exciting!
SWR is overhauling its timetables for the first time in over 20 years. Whilst timetable changes won't solve all the issues with rail services in our area, it's really important to have your say. Details on SWR's info event on 4 June & my survey here: https://t.co/bX35Z44chf
@ClareDelmar@forestbike_uk@LBRUT …And you will be able to do so going forward with a larger fleet provision, full access to all neighbouring boroughs, lower prices and a top deal for you as a taxpayer.
Today is “Forest Day”. Richmond begins its move to @forestbike_uk provision - with a service will be bigger, more connected and better value for our residents and taxpayers. Make sure you take advantage of the introductory offers!
@JuLlewellyn@forestbike_uk@LBRUT Julia. If I ride my own legal e-bike I don’t need any insurance at all. The law is the floor. The fallacy here is that ‘more insurance’ makes thing safer. Small no’s of collisions will still happen (insurance or not). Insurance just promises to speed up finanical compensation.
@JuLlewellyn@forestbike_uk@LBRUT Not sure I agree that its a “cop out” to point out that the cover with Forest exceeds the legal requirements. Harm reduction is more important than post-event £s remedy. Over a million rental e-bike journeys took place in Richmond last year & the focus is on boosting that use.
@ClareDelmar@forestbike_uk@LBRUT I’d also have a great deal more respect for your recent ‘concern’ over third-party insurance, if it wasnt your latest attempt to play party politics with the decision & oppose the move to Forest on any grounds possible. The electorate responded to that scare campaign on May 8th.
@ClareDelmar@forestbike_uk@LBRUT Lime wasnt in open competition beforehand
, yet that “monopoly” didnt bother you? To keep that or choose that would have seen poorer prices & lower value for taxpayers. Hardly a good decision.
@JuLlewellyn@forestbike_uk@LBRUT I’ve just responded to your email. All providers offer insurance in excess of legal need. I’ve also said that while ‘more’ insurance may seem advantageous, in many circustances it will be voided. Insurance only compensates when harm occurs, we want to reduce the harm - full stop
Interesting to see how @RFU have set out their stall regarding proposals for 15 concerts a year. Will keep engaging with residents over these plans and bring voice to their views, when applications are lodged. Fair to say, there are still understandable concerns amongst many.
@RobertKwolek@LBRUT@KatieMansfield I am happy to see whether we can provide some facilities here, but as your image shows - a container, such as the one pictured would co-opt a very large part of a fairly modest footway - which sadly has its own drawbacks in terms of limiting pedestrian space.
Very disappointed to finally get the answer to our request to legally challenge the closure of Twickenham’s Police Front Counter
The courts rejected our case
Of course if @SadiqKhan@MayorofLondon had kept his manifesto promise to keep it open things would have been different
Sadly, the experience for those making transport changes. I always say, “there are 2 things that everyone has a view on - weather & transport.” Opinions are all part of debate - but personal attacks require change-makers to have extremely thick skin… https://t.co/OTVXyjg1nu
Couldnt agree more. Principles are principles. Sometimes you have to win power by imperfect means to effect an improvement in the very system that returned you. Those values matter and transcend narrow political advantage - or they do in the Lib Dems.
"In Twickenham and Richmond Park we now have every single councillor, but we don't have every single vote.
We'd welcome electoral reform in councils where we are overrepresented."

My thanks to residents, neighbours & friends of Isleworth for electing me as a councillor for the ward. I will work constructively & collaboratively with my Labour ward colleagues. Thank you to John Stroud-Turp for his public service for the ward over the last four years.
