The Chinese Dream is where everyone becomes more prosperous together.

Yes. Vietnam had help.

The Soviet Union supplied surface-to-air missiles, MiG fighter jets, artillery, ammunition, technical advisors, and hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid annually at the peak of the war.

China supplied weapons, logistics support, engineering troops who helped maintain supply lines, and a security guarantee that prevented the United States from invading the North the way it had crossed into North Korea in 1950, a constraint that fundamentally shaped American strategic options for the entire war.

This is true. It is documented. It is important.

Now let's talk about what the other side had.

The United States entered Vietnam with the backing of the largest military-industrial complex in human history.

It had NATO.

It had Japan and Okinawa as major logistical hubs.

It had the Philippines.

It had Thailand, from which B-52s flew bombing missions.

It had Taiwan.

It had South Korea, which sent 320,000 troops to fight alongside American forces, the second largest foreign contingent in the war.

It had Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and the Philippines contributing forces.

It had the global dollar system funding everything.

It had the entirety of Western industrial capacity behind its weapons production.

Vietnam had allies.

America had a coalition, a global reserve currency, and decades of accumulated industrial supremacy.

The help was not equivalent.

The victory was.
