F1 out-of-hours shifts are by far the hardest shifts I’ve ever worked - the dread of the 408 bleep is still etched in my mind. Wishing a big happy Christmas to everyone working today 🎄✨
Merry Christmas to all those working in the NHS today
Many staff in the NHS are grossly underpaid (even on Christmas day👇) but none more so than Junior Doctors who frequently graduate with >£100k debt
RT to support them & ask government to pay them ALL fairly #PayRestoration
Had a great time Hammersmith Hospital Endocrine Symposium on Friday. Proud to show our poster about an acute on chronic case of megacolon in MEN2B - a rare differential but useful to keep in the back of our minds as acute clinicians!
@campbellclaret Oh gosh- I thought I saw you at Kings Cross on the way to Sheffield yesterday evening! Wish I’d said hello if it was you! Hope you have a great weekend ❄️
@sajidjavid Smoking ban is great-best policy Conservatives have had in my memory. 👏
However the “party of motorist” rhetoric will contribute to worsening air pollution, another killer…
Undermines argument
@Conservatives care about our health- maybe they care more about votes?
@AshlingLillis@Conservatives As a junior doctor, thank you for standing up for the profession. Looks a bit bleak continuing in medicine at the moment. I hope things get better!
@Keir_Starmer new ideas on asylum seem brave and principled. He is taking a political risk but it will mean a workable asylum policy and far fewer dangerous boat crossings. It is logical, moral, good for Britain - and far better than the current government policy. Well done Keir
Medical student joined me in clinic last week (she was absolutely great!), told me her elective coming up.
Asked where she’s going for it- she hopes to get on to one of the University provided placements at McKinsey in management consultancy…
@MarkGaze Rotas sent much earlier, annual leave granted, don’t have to find own swaps- so can plan life!
Changing facilities, hot drinks, somewhere to store bags
Make it easy to attend (high quality) teaching/ courses and trust pay for these
Fifth round of junior doctor strikes- sad as I’m really loving my current rotation!
Hopefully this government will decide to sort this out and finally give a #fairandreasonable offer soon…

Absolutely loved my first day on Met Med @ImperialNHS !
Got to attend journal club and then metabolic bone clinic where I learnt a lot from a brilliant teaching Professor.
Excited for the rest of IMT2!
@LondonTN@DrMoKhaki Lessons from today;
> say yes to opportunities often (not always)
> network with medics and non medics
> check in to see if colleagues are OK and support one another
> careers don’t need to be linear anymore
> medicine is a job which can be enjoyed!
Really great day at @LondonTN conference- very engaging speakers and discussion on future-proofing our careers as doctors, whether that be within medicine or outside…
Particularly enjoyed this session from @DrMoKhaki !
@LondonTN@DrMoKhaki From my perspective, developing a portfolio careers looks most appealing. At the moment for me that looks like completing IMT2, engaging in research and leadership and broadening my skillset both clinical and non clinical
