As a new teacher I have found it hard to switch off during the summer as half my mind is on the planning I have to do, the classroom to sort, the books to read etc But there is nothing quite like scaling a vertical rock face with your 6 yr old to really focus on the here n now!!

Starting at a new school as an ECT in year 3 and planning first week of literacy lessons to assess kids levels in reading, writing and SPAG before moving onto curriculum. Any ideas for first week back writing tasks to assess what kids can do? @MrTs_NQTs

@_avtl @MrTs_NQTs I am def planning lots of GTKY activities to build relationships etc in the class and have their Y2 data but we want to see what they can do /remember after 6 weeks off

@missmurdochx @MrTs_NQTs Yes this is the sort of thing I was thinking of -a way to GTKY and assess their writing at the same time. Wasn’t sure how much scaffolding to do as I know i have quite a few working below.

@DeputyGrocott Happy FFBWednesday! ECT teaching year 3 from Sept. Previously a UQT at an independent school and did a distance PGCE with QtS but made the decision to go state after getting qualified to gain more experience and better support. Excited but nervous for the year ahead!
