Farouq named the professor who was arrested as Mubasher Muslimyar, an Islamic studies lecturer. He said Muslimyar attempted to convert students to Salafism, a fundamentalist branch of Sunni Islam, before encouraging them to join #ISIS-K.

Earlier Mawlawi Abu Ubaidullah Mutawakil also spent time in jail under the Ghani regime when he was arrested by an Afghan intelligence agency for allegedly recruiting for Islamic State- Khorasan province (IS-KP).

Turkish intelligence captured senior Turkish ISKP figure Abu Yasir Al-Turki (Özgür Altun) near the Pakistani border.
Altun moved IS supporters from Europe to AF-PAK. Managed IS media and logistics operations and ordered attacks in crowded areas such as concerts.
🚨BREAKING: Pakistani Intelligence, the ISI, has conducted a joint operation in coordination with Turkish Intelligence and successfully captured alive a top-level ISIS (Daesh) recruiter, Özgür Altun alias Abu Yasir Al-Turki, as he was attempting to enter Pakistan from Afghanistan.
Turkish state media @anadoluajansi reports ISKP senior figure Özgür Altun was arrested in a joint Turkish-Pakistani intel-op near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Altun is said to be a key recruiter for ISKP in Central Asia & Europe, linked to planned attacks in Turkey.
Taliban-affiliated Al-Mirsad Media reports that senior ISKP operative Abu Yassir al-Turki, recently extradited to Turkey following his arrest in Pakistan, joined the group in 2018. Captured by the former Afghan government in 2019, he escaped amid the mass prison breaks in Kabul during August 2021 and remained in hiding until Taliban operations in 2023 dealt significant blows to ISKP leadership, prompting him to flee to Balochistan, where he was apprehended.
I report on how the arrest of an Islamic State-Khorasan (#IS-K) militant who is suspected of helping plan an attack against the U.S. forces in #Afghanistan in 2021 marks an upturn in strained ties between #Washington and #Islamabad.

The 20th C. gave us 2 competing visions of a future dystopia: Orwell, and Huxley. Neil Postman showed that Huxley was closer to the truth.

TKD MONITORING:
Taliban's anti Islamic State Khorasan (ISKP) media front Al-Mirsaad has published a video on recent GDI operations in Mazar-i-Sharif and Kabul against ISKP featuring top ISKP commanders and ideologues including Ziauddin, Abu Umar Afridi, Ustad Qais, Salman Tajiki, Qari Fateh, and Ejaz Ahangar.
It also features an alleged audio of ISKP Emir Shahab al-Muhajir, confirming the death of Ziauddin.
2️⃣ To begin with, two journalists working on Pak-Afghan relations mention that the prominent ideologues of #ISKP were born on #Afghanistan's soil. They added that in 2014, alongside Hafiz Saeed Khan, other influential Afghan radical thinkers like Abdul Rahim Muslim Dost and Abdul Qahir Khorasani also declared their support for the leader of the Islamic State, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
Further, Maulvi Ziauddin & Sheikh Jalaluddin were prominent ISKP fighters from Kunar ( the epicenter of TTP). So, ISKP was saved by the Afghan leaders, not only by a Pakistani leader (Hafiz Saeed Khan).

A recent 41-minute, 13-second propaganda video released by ISKP-affiliated Al-Azaim Media in Pashto, titled "Militias' Mister Trump," criticizes the Taliban administration for its foreign relations with 'infidel' countries and reliance on aid from non-Muslim organizations while still referring to itself as the Islamic Emirate. The video mocks remarks made by Taliban Deputy Minister Abbas Stanikzai about the current U.S. president, referring to him as "Mister Trump" and calling him "a brave and decisive person." It also features segments from an older ISKP propaganda piece criticizing international NGOs, listing specific organizations (NCA, CRS, CA, and ICRC) operating in Afghanistan under the Taliban, and claiming that their names reflect alleged non-Islamic objectives.
Update: AFRICOM’s current assessment is that the joint strike conducted Feb. 1 killed approximately 14 ISIS-Somalia operatives. Among those killed was Ahmed Maeleninine, a key ISIS recruiter, financier, and external operations leader.
