⚡️Regime airstrikes and shelling kill civilians as attacks on Amhara communities enter a third consecutive day in Gida-Ayana Woreda (📍East Wollega Zone, Oromia Region, Ethiopia).

🔴 On June 25th, regime forces carried out aerial attacks across Andode-Dicho, Ali, and Bata-Gadina Kebeles, marking the third consecutive day of operations targeting ethnic Amhara communities in the area.

🔴 Following heavy tank and mortar shelling on June 24th, regime joint forces entered the Ali locality of Andode-Dicho Kebele. Two civilian women were reportedly killed during the bombardment, while many residents fled their homes.

🔴 Upon entering Ali village, regime forces burned residential homes and looted civilian property.

🔴 Concurrently, helicopter-borne and drone strikes targeted the Waja area and the Fendika locality of Andode-Dicho Kebele, resulting in additional civilian casualties and property destruction.

The @AbiyAhmedAli regime launched a major aerial assault today, July 3, targeting Amhara inhabited Kebeles of Bajin, Wofchi, and Mergajiregna in Kiremu Woreda. Ethiopian Air Force jets reportedly bombarded the areas more than 70 times over a two-hour period beginning at around 12:00 p.m., causing significant destruction and civilian casualties.

One local source reported witnessing at least seven drone strikes and 28 jet and helicopter strikes in his area alone. Another witness said at least 35 strikes were reported in Madu Wereb, Tikur Bahir, Menkesh Terara, and Buna Wenz. A source who spoke with Ethio Focus News also reported that multiple helicopters were used in attacks lasting several hours, with two pairs of helicopters reportedly conducting strikes for about 40 minutes before being replaced by another pair.

The Ethiopian Air Force has reportedly been using the newly built Gudina Tumsa Airport in Nekemte city. The aerial bombardment reportedly caused casualties among a significant number of civilians, though obtaining further details has been difficult due to a communications blackout.

The Oromo prosperity party regime carried out airstrikes on Amhara civilians in East Wollega today
According to local sources and families of victims jets, attack helicopters and drones struck civilian areas in Gida Ayana district, East Wollega Zone, on June 23 (Sene 16).
In Ali village, Andode Dicho kebele, a jet that took off from Nekemte Airport (about 30 km away) and bombed the area. Multiple civilians were killed. ENDF forces and Geda special commandos blocked the roads, preventing the wounded from reaching medical care in Anger Gutin town.
In the Waja area, military helicopters dropped explosives on civilians. Telecommunication services in the area have been shut down, making it difficult to confirm the full scale of casualties.
Similar airstrikes involving jets and drones were reported in Gulma, where farmers working in their fields were among the victims.
Extensive drone surveillance was observed over parts of neighboring Horo Guduru Wollega Zone, including Tullu Gana town.

ETHIOPIA: CHRISTIANS KILLED, CHURCH BURNED, 280 DISPLACED

At least 12 Orthodox Christians were killed in multiple attacks in the predominantly Muslim community in Arsi Zone.

During the night of the attacks, their properties were burned down, along with the 101-year-old Telata St. Gabriel Church. More than 280 people were displaced.

"Orthodox Christians have been forced from the homes where they were born, raised, and built their lives. Their houses were singled out and burned solely because of their religion, and their property and livestock were looted. Those residents who survived the attacks fled with nothing but their faith and identity, and they are now left stranded in open areas without shelter," Arsi Diocese Public Relation Media reports.

Local sources say the attackers gave warnings of their intentions to the residents. While some have sought to portray these attacks through an ethnic lens, the information available so far indicates that the attacks have primarily targeted Orthodox Christians and Orthodox churches. The attackers in the recent East Arsi, Oromia attacks (late May–early June 2026) that killed dozens of Orthodox Christians and burned churches are accused by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, survivors, and some officials of being Oromo Liberation Army (OLA/Shane) militants.

OLA is an **ethno-nationalist** insurgent group seeking Oromo autonomy—not Islamist. It is secular in stated policy, draws fighters from Oromo people of mixed faiths (roughly half Muslim, many Christian/Orthodox/Protestant, some traditional), and denies involvement. It blames “mercenaries” or government proxies for staging attacks to spark Christian-Muslim or Amhara-Oromo conflict.

In a statement released June 13, following reports that members of his family were abducted by regime forces, Fano commander Arbegna Samuel Baledil accused the Abiy regime of targeting innocent civilians and family members of Fano fighters in an effort to pressure and intimidate those involved in the armed struggle.

“It is expected, and something we have always believed, that the struggle will cost us many things.

Previously, on October 7, 2025, my father’s younger brother, a 52-year-old man named Andebet Selamsew, was brutally killed at a place called Gazge Megeneteya simply because he was considered a member of my family. They gouged out his eyes with a sharp object before killing him. Similar atrocities have also been committed against other close members of our family.

Now again, the regime has abducted women and children of my family from their homes under the cover of darkness. Therefore, I call upon international human rights organizations to closely monitor the situation, as there is a high possibility that the same atrocities previously committed against our close family members could be repeated.

The struggle is against those of us who are on the battlefield not against the women who had nothing to do with the war. Using innocent women and children who have no connection to the matter as bargaining chips is an extremely shameful act. Even now, our main objective will not be reversed through the abduction of innocent people. Rather, we will continue forward, considering every danger that confronts us, including those affecting our families, as a sacrifice for the struggle, as we work to uproot and overthrow a system that abducts and oppresses innocent people.

Our pain serves only as a reminder that we are alive and that we carry many responsibilities; it is not something that will stop us from our journey.

My family is no more important than the Amhara who are being abducted and massacred along the roads. My family is no different from the Christians being slaughtered en masse in Arsi. No one can intimidate us through threats against our families and force us to stand on their side. Let alone Fano leaders, even our ordinary fighters cannot be swayed in that manner. It is enough for them to know that we are the children of Belay Zeleke.

Until we collectively uproot this system, the abductions, the mutilations, and the mass killings will continue. Therefore, God willing, we will strengthen and continue our struggle. We do not expect justice from this system.
