@AdamMeakins There’s only so long we can stay in systems that are invested in remaining stuck & stale. Its exhausting & you’re labelled the black sheep. However, you’re not the problem Adam, you’re the speaker of truths which many are not ready to hear. Go where you are appreciated
@HarryBliss It’s a double edged sword. It evolved from an agenda of efficiency savings, wrapped up in the bow of providing opportunities for AHPs to work beyond their scope.AP roles deserve proper funding for often risky decisions at often such low pay bands.
@GreigNicol1 @DrLucyDouglas We have ended up so far away from healthy work/life balance for a plethora of reasons…which is ironic as we work in a ‘healthcare’ setting. If we had Yvon Chouinard as our NHS boss, it would all look&feel way better! The culture requires urgent change.
@GreigNicol1 @DrLucyDouglas Good summation! Fair distribution for all staff…otherwise we are in the murky ground of discrimination of one or other staff group. Thanks for the thought provoking discussion!
@AdamMeakins Less than half of PTs in my work place voted. Of that embarrassingly low number, a proportion voted no to strike. We are therefore not mandated to strike. I literally don’t get it? Are physios actually saying that are happy with their pay/T&Cs and current NHS culture? 🤯
Sadly, we have a long way to go. ‘Looking after those who look after others’ requires compassionate, truthful NHS leadership focused on humans…not data & a cultural shift away from out of date NHS hierarchical bureaucracy #nhsleadership#thisisgoingtohurt
Today, with huge thanks to Ealing Hospital, we planted a tree - the UK’s only memorial to NHS staff who have died by suicide. May they rest in peace, and may we redouble our efforts to stop it happening ever in the future. 3/3
@DMNPhysio Clarification is required on what the NHS can provide in light of the massive disparity in cap vs demand. I’m not sure MSK issues would be high on the list - other than maybe post-op rehab. Time to get clear on NHS priorities - MSK is a currently a luxury
@BillingMartin Arguably MSK in the NHS is a luxury now - other than maybe pre/post op care. What I see is tighter constraints on NHS treatment provision and way more private MSK quackery
@BillingMartin That’s because it’s marketed as being progressive/informed when really it’s about being right. Progressive & receptive means being open, interested & curious about all views. Are we wanting to be right…or are we wanting to learn about each other & ourselves?
