We did some investigative work on one such foreign (Pakistani) influence op. Interesting thing about that was:
- The target of the op were mostly local Pakistanis
- The 'bots' were an actual literal army of real human beings with fake names
- it was just coordinated inauthentic behavior
- such a thing cant be detected reliably unless you have insider info (which we did)
