@AliTimesTwo@PaulBrazill@profdwh I'm pleased I met him - surely one of the great latter-day London eccentrics, like someone from the 18th Century. And these days, I sort of find his dedication to his cause, no matter how curious it seems / seemed, admirable in its way.
@keithapearson Saw Shakin' Stevens in Elvis the musical in 1977 where he played the middle Elvis and PJ Proby played the late stage Elvis. Was a school trip and Shakin' was definitely to star for us.
@govauctionnews@PaulBrazill@profdwh That's it, I never bought a booklet but remember him trying to hand them out. Was only 8 to 15 years old when I remember seeing him so more of a giggle at his sandwich board messages.
@MsPocketRocket Dear John... the writing on this and the brilliant Ralph Bates lift this still to more than just another sitcom. Enjoyed Just Good Friends and probably one of my first crushes on Jan Francis, but Dear John just edges it for me.
A terrific little British thriller from director Gerald Thomas, away from the Carry On films. It packs maximum tension into over 1 hour about a young boy is trapped in a bank vault with dwindling oxygen, sparking a race to save him. Robert Beatty is the calm expert in charge, with a very young Sean Connery in an early role. Saw it last year on @TalkingPicsTV a tense, tight, and thoroughly gripping highly recommended!
@MsPocketRocket Remember the green shield stamps... had a redemption shop in the old Elephant and Castle shopping centre looked just like the one shown.
Mine now insists in asking if I really mean BBC1 or the HD BBC1. Or pop ups reminding I can press green for restart or red for alternative transmission. And last week had to confirm I had a tv licence or log on again for C4, C5, BBC, U, Netflix... all because of an software upgrade.
@mcdermottkc_ Remember a couple of mins warm up when turned on, and the mesmerising turn off where the picture collapsed to a dot. Also miss distorting the image with a magnet. And if course having to actually get up and walk to tge tv to switch channels even though it was a choice of 2 or 3.
Remember them well. Wheeling the wooden framed tv in watching Look and Read or Scene. Remember Children of the Stones, Boys from Space, and short episodes on Lord of the Flies, Of Mice and Men. Scene also had loads of short documentaries on a whole range of social studies programmes on race, employment, sexuality, politics. Also remember in primary listening to radio programmes mainly for music, but also poetry. Remember well the large wooden wall speaker being turned on and listening live.

Very nice that you all got the smiles from hearing the track. Just goes to show that music made organically has a long life & leaving a few โmistakesโ in the recording adds to the uniqueness, something that AI has not yet achieved
