Anyone who looks closely at the actions of the Houthi militia and those who support or sympathize with them can see that their public slogans do not reflect their true intentions. The Yemeni people themselves have paid a devastating price in hunger, destruction, injustice, and suffering, while attacks and threats have continued to endanger civilians and destabilize the region.

But what is even more alarming is the repeated targeting and threatening of Saudi Arabia with missiles and drones including attempts directed toward the holiest places on Earth: Makkah and Madinah, home to the Sacred Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque.

The world must understand the gravity of this: the Sacred Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque are not military targets, they are not instruments of political struggle, and they are not bargaining chips. They are sacred sanctuaries revered by Muslims across the world, and their sanctity must never be violated.

Anyone who threatens these holy sites is not merely threatening a place. They are provoking the hearts and faith of more than a billion Muslims and violating the sanctity of places that Allah has commanded to be honored and protected.

May Allah protect Makkah and Madinah, safeguard the Land of the Two Holy Mosques and its people, protect Yemen and its people.
