Did you know that wind power is the second largest contributor to Australia’s renewable energy supply? #UoNTeach#RenewableEnergy#windturbine https://t.co/ZunB4OOqg4
@Christo52918550 Yes @Christo52918550 this was actually one of my earlier tweets. I think this initiative is a genious way to involve school communities.
An estimated 5 trillion pieces of plastic floating on and in the world’s oceans! If every person collected 1 peice of rubbish from our ocean the planet would be a happier, safer and cleaner place to be. #UoNTeach https://t.co/ha8rF0q7J1
Does Climate Change exist? The notion that some, don't believe it does is what has the younger generations very concerned for their future. #UoNTeach#ClimateChange https://t.co/JfDgQNM64R
@Christo52918550 I love this idea @Christo52918550 what a great initiative your kids' school has implemented. Giving back is such an important quality children should be taught.
Vegetable Gardens are a great way of teaching students about sustainability and where our food comes from. Implementing them into schools puts theory into practice. #UoNTeach
@reidem6 This is very true @reidem6 I have also made significant changes such as: how I grocery shop to what plastic I have in my house. I have a young daughter and learning this confronting information, I will be very aware of what plastic goes into her daycare lunch box.
Ideas on how to create a plastic free lunchbox! This is important for our planet, if we teach them young they won't know any different! #UoNTeach#Plasticfree#saveourplanet

Although we city folk do not see the drastic impact of the drought with our own eyes, it doesn't mean it is not happening and that we won't be effected in some way. Have you seen first-hand severely drought effected land? #UoNTeach#drought

@Melissamc496 FaceTime a Farmer and Skype would both be great exposure. Perhaps a school excursion to drought stricken rural areas would be the extra exposure school children need to feel the reality #UoNTeach@Melissamc496
@reidem6@Take3fortheSea Yes, I have actually tweeted about @Take3fortheSea it is a fantastic initiative and living in Newcastle it could be something to think about getting students involved. @reidem6
@reidem6 Yes, opening up a descussion in the classrooms and implementing initiatives like this into schools will be a positive step for when it comes to sustainability @reidem6
"National Recycling Week Primary", is an initiative that aligns with the Australian Curriculum, therefore, a unit of work can be taught on recycling allowing the students to participate in this initiative, consolidating their learning. https://t.co/edRzUEz2xj
Have you ever had a birthday with out Balloons? or a fairy party with out Glitter? have you thought about what these very small items are doing on our environment? #glitterislitter#UoNTeach https://t.co/Z9Pnnfz0Pw
This is great @reidem6 I will be adopting this for my internship. Some students may not actually know what bins to put their rubbish in, by teaching them there are no excuses. #UoNTeach
Are you correctly sorting your rubbish? I developed a lesson during my last practical experience about reycling & the symbols we can find on everyday packaging. When researching content for the lesson, I definitely learnt a new thing or two about what these symbols mean.#UoNTeach
Have you heard about the Bags to Benches initiative that is happening at UON? I have seen some posters around campus, but I never comprehended how great this trial is until learning about sustainable practices in this assignment! Read more at https://t.co/B4nm9VrEVL #UoNTeach
This is a great find @ATaylorUON. The idea of wrapping produce in banana leaves. Although the large supermarkets have removed checkout plastic bags there are still plastic bags in the fruit and veg section. This could be a great idea, removing plastic bags for good #UoNTeach

@reidem6 This is so true, it also infuriates me that they have removed the plastic bags from checkouts. However, they still have the plastic bags on the dispensers in the fruit and veg section. @reidem6
@reidem6 Reading this article really makes you aware of how one straw can be detrimental, let alone billions of them. Educating students about these horrible statistics is a great start to abolishing the single use plastic straw for good. @reidem6
When reflecting on where all of our rubbish goes, it's no wonder China has put a ban on the amount that is imported to their warehouses. Australia is just moving the problem to another country #UoNTeach https://t.co/G6uyJvEEnA
