This is bullsh*t, every single time I spoke with someone from the US claiming to know more than one language they had lv. B1 MAX, which is NOT considered knowing a language properly... If that was the case I'd speak 4 languages EASILY, not including dialects of my region.

in my experience a lot of europeans say they’re bilingual but they aren’t fluent in their second language while americans will really only say they’re bilingual if they’re fluent or almost fluent
