in my experience a lot of europeans say they’re bilingual but they aren’t fluent in their second language while americans will really only say they’re bilingual if they’re fluent or almost fluent

@jorge_georgios okay and that’s all i’m trying to say. In the american context B2 would not be considered fluent. A lot of americans speak second or third languages at that level but would probably not say they were fluent

@fartbaseddiet oh yeah very few people outside of Paris speak english at a level where I could hold a convo with them in it. It’s far easier to speak french even in bigger cities. my grandparents had to speak spanish when they would visit because it was easier for them communicate
