@nxd1979@jjongbeargeddon true that i can’t speak much now since i didnt really keep up with it after i graduated. thats actually why i took the trip there! so i could improve a bit and see the culture a bit for myself :) but i think your assumption that im lying is rude
@NorbertSzekere1@Muninnreserve assuming that approached people speaking english is very very bold considering thats not what i did. you must be a fun person to talk to.
@NorbertSzekere1@Muninnreserve ah maybe but making themselves look less capable of their skills because they decided they hate me for no reason is really a them problem, not me
@lekgotla_felix@jjongbeargeddon the bigger cities they definitely spoke more english but it was more of a struggle when we went to smaller cities is all. i tried to speak as little english as possible for practice but definitely in the bigger cities i think they didn’t want to hear me butchering their tongue
@caldotheapache@jjongbeargeddon i can’t wait to tell everyone i know that i got to speak to the Ambassador of the Collective Consciousness of Germany today
@antilopepe@JstEhSteelrsGrl@jjongbeargeddon thank you sm for having an actual explanation and not just assuming that everyone decided i wasn’t worth speaking to for some reason. we were mostly west but we did make it to a more central/eastern area at one point! im glad to learn something new today :)
still not over the brit trying to tell me that people totally speak perfect english everywhere in europe but everyone decided im not worthy to hear it lmao of course people dont want to speak to YOU youre an overconfident BRIT omg pls keep that to urself, dont put that on me
@jjongbeargeddon@williamsburg_12 exactly! it’s akin to when people here learn spanish from younger grades to senior year, at least where im from. they performed well speaking it for a class and learned a lot, but they didn’t keep up on it after and would struggle to speak now if put on the spot. same concept
@jjongbeargeddon omg yes lol we went to one city in france near the german border and that was where we struggled the most to talk to people. but we just broke out the translator app and apologized to anyone for the inconvenience and still had fun :)
@JstEhSteelrsGrl@jjongbeargeddon oh it was so so fun!! i was genuinely very excited to be able to put my education to use, even if it wasn’t very good but you’re right, i did get a bit shy about it sometimes 😅 but it was a great challenge and i got to improve my german in the process which i was so happy about
@JstEhSteelrsGrl@jjongbeargeddon i was! we traveled around to some bigger cities and yeah they can speak some english there but once you get to smaller cities and towns i had to speak german a lot more, which is fine and i was excited to do
