@PIDEpk proudly welcomed its 2026 Internship Cohort. 𝟏𝟒𝟎 outstanding interns selected from ��,𝟖𝟖𝟑 applications, representing 𝟔𝟐 universities, diverse academic disciplines, and all regions of Pakistan, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Balochistan. The cohort comprises 𝟔𝟒 (45%) male and 𝟕𝟔 (55%) female interns.

The Orientation Session introduced interns to PIDE's research and policy ecosystem, followed by an inspiring inaugural address by Dr. Nadeem Javaid (SI) (@nadeemjavaid75), Vice Chancellor, PIDE, on "URAAN Pakistan: Challenges & Pathways."

Over the next five days, interns will engage with leading policymakers, researchers, and practitioners through intensive sessions on governance, data analytics, artificial intelligence, research ethics, leadership, and workplace professionalism; preparing them to become the next generation of policy leaders.

Every time the govt calls tax tweaks or salary bumps “relief,” it shows we’re still colonial in our heads.
The old raj extracted heavily then occasionally “relieved” its subjects like a generous master. Same language, same mindset 79 years later.
Grown-up countries don’t frame keeping a bit more of your own money as the state’s mercy. Grow out of colonialism. The goal isn’t better relief — it’s permanently less extraction.

I’ve spent over two decades studying the Pakistani state. But words fail to describe how malevolent, low-IQ, & beholden to vested interests, the administration is.

The people trying to stop solar power adoption in Pakistan are all university educated professionals. Check their CVs and you will find many with foreign qualifications & fancy fellowships.

When they retire some will produce silly self-exonerating memoirs.

And while they were in government for decades two questions never occurred to them:

1. What is in the national interest and public interest of Pakistan?

2. How can we help Pakistan achieve these constructive objectives?

At a time of global energy crisis, Pakistan needs to move even more rapidly towards solarisation. Instead, the administration is trying to impede solarisation and now they are going after not just the ‘bourgeoisie’ or ‘rich’ solar net metering folks, but others as well.
