Especially depressing that it is in The Times. I sometimes think Trump's biggest contribution will have been to make a lot of people, including me, recognize the extent to which Fake News is a real thing.
I used to think in terms of more-or-less unconsciously slanting the news. But the amount of willful deception is amazing. E.g, Thiel's group is so unsecretive that The Times has no excuse for not figuring that out and spiking the story. The Times apparently just doesn't care if it publishes fake news.
