Thrilled to see the results of our multiyear project on IAMs in print! Grateful to @F_ThurstonDrake@Tfeend and the rest of the @BMCSurgery crew for their mentorship on this project, and very excited that we were able to increase approp workup after IAM detection for patients!
Many patients do not receive appropriate follow-up after detection of incidental adrenal mass.
Quality improvement intervention is associated with increased primary care provider-initiated evaluation.

In this issue of @WorldJSurg , our team identifies racial & socioeconomic disparities in the decision to undergo curative treatment in early-stage HCC. Check out the following link: https://t.co/ZPcCGGQM5i @BMCSurgery@The_BMC@TsengJennifer @AlisonMPease21 @MPapageorge_MD
This was a thrilling project to work on with @AlisonMPease21 @Tfeend@F_ThurstonDrake and many others.
⭐️Simple interventions, when implemented effectively, make a big difference.
📈Making interdisciplinary communication easier increases follow up, and connection to treatment.
📄 In Press @JACRJournal
“Despite suboptimal adoption, use of our concise, standardized template within the “Impression” section of the radiology report was associated with a nearly 50% increase in PCP follow-up after incidental adrenal mass detection.”

I’m of the opinion that every American 18-20 y/old should participate in the civic life of this country—military; PeaceCorps; AmeriCorps; etc—similar to Israeli model. If we all have to contribute, we’ll all have more of a stake in making this country work better for everyone.
Proud of my colleague Dr. @AlisonMPease21; rather than measure traditional outcomes (eg, LOS or complications, which haven't shown much variation among pts with non-English primary language), Alison wisely looked @ the "other end" of the surgical journey: pre-op decision-making.
Lots more to be done in this impt area as we outline here in @AnnSurgOncol reflections: https://t.co/iv7hstHawF. Need std definitions, inclusion of language info in databases, & to expand on findings using qualitative techniques.
Thrilled to share our work on the association between patient primary language and post-mastectomy immediate breast reconstruction. https://t.co/wbfwn7EEvs
Pts who spoke a primary language other than English less likely to undergo autologous IBR - even after accounting for pt and hospital factors. As always, learned much from @F_ThurstonDrake & coauths @MPapageorge_MD @Dre_Alonso91 @AndreaLMerrill@mcassidymd@TeviahSachs & more
