2) We need spaces for healing and conversation. Rather than start with the hardest (national) conversation, let's start locally, with neighbors.

When elected mayor, I'd like to host a few spaces for people disappointed with the local election results -- basically people who voted against me. I want to hear them out and talk about how to move forward together as a city and community.

Too often I think we view our perspective as "correct" and don't consider why others' might differ or how we also are "the villain" in someone else's story.

We know how to gear up to fight, but skip the opportunity to sit down to talk after fight time is over.

We have a tendency to think we are all Danny Larusso in The Karate Kid.

Maybe it is time to do the political equivalent of Cobra Kai and listen to Johnny Lawrence's story!
