@sophie_etc_@rwjc22@BucksStarBeer Most pubs in and around MK are tied to Greene King and Marston's, so there is little opportunity for local breweries to get a foot in the door. Those pubs that are free of tie or have better arrangements do stock local beers, so choose them over the big pub companies.
@Barworx@HornesBrewery Any return for Concrete Pint is welcome, but if MK's drinkers can't find a bar in Xcape they don't stand a chance of finding a tent in Mount Farm industrial area! 😜
@HuishHugh@sbedscamra@MKCAMRA@DecrepitCyclist As Secklow Hundred ('Spoons) there were six handpulls in regular use. As Draft House three of the six handpulls served cask ale and one served cider. As BrewDog it'll probably have zero handpulls. If you want keg, Craft & Cleaver is already open around the corner with ten taps.
@BlackenedSunBC@7exie First Mixed Fermentation Project bottle #84 also drunk today. Blackberry hit on first pour, smokey later and bone dry with it. Nice and murky too. 👍
@rdgmartin@HornesBrewery@MKCAMRA The number varies, usually between 10 and 20 per year. The scale of each is limited by space and risk considerations. You know what they say about eggs and baskets. Looks like a low number for 2018 with pubs investing elsewhere and no Concrete Pint.
@HornesBrewery@MKCAMRA Outdoor festivals are a huge risk financially. Notice Northampton's is run by a commercial organisation, not CAMRA. MK already has lots of commercial beer festivals every year. MK doesn't dream; it gets on with it.
We've had a call from a publican who was contacted by phone and asked to pay £60 to appear in an online version of the Good Beer Guide.
All Good Beer Guide pubs are nominated, evaluated + reviewed by CAMRA volunteers and we never charge for entries - please share and be aware!
@TheRiserBerko@temperanceSEH@RogerProtzBeer@MidChiltYMCAMRA@CAMRA_Official You are actually the sub-regional finalist, not Bucks PotY (there is no Bucks region). Sounds a bit naff though. Most importantly you are very good, so congratulations and good luck against the other sub-regional finalists. 😀
@MKCAMRA@HornesBrewery@CheddarAles Gorge Best was on the guest pump alongside Directors and Eagle. It was mentioned that local breweries are available as they are free of tie. I suspect the regulars would like Dark Fox.
MKCAMRA Most Improved Pub 2018 is another that has been brought back from the dead! @newlowndesarms is a worthy winner. Congratulations! @mk_citizen @foodinmk @CelebrateMK
