Trump is taking federal funds from universities that don't support Israel, deporting lawful residents that don't support Israel, and attempting to primary the only Republican who doesn't support Israel.
Trump is an Israel First President.
This is the law the administration is using to remove Mahmoud Khalil. They’re not deporting him because he’s a “Hamas supporter” or because he “threatened violence against Jews.”
They aren’t claiming that because they can’t claim that.
No, instead they’re alleging his presence in our country poses adverse consequences to our foreign policy.
And what specific foreign policy is that, you ask? Well that’s where the State Department’s “Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism” comes into play.
You see, it’s actually the official foreign policy of the United States of America to “fight antisemitism” around the globe.
And the Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism has adopted the IHRA’s working definition of antisemitism in order to do that.
So no, you dont have to support terrorists, or riot, or be violent in any way… no, now anyone here on a visa can be deported for doing something as simple as
“Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor”
Or
“Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations.”
Both of those quotes coming directly from the IHRA’s website.
So yeah, that’s where we’re at in this country right now. Expending precious resources of the American State Department to punish free and legal speech, on behalf of the state of Israel any way we can.
There's a profound imbalance in the Israel debate. Nearly all mainstream pro-Palestinian voices take care to distinguish between Israel and Jews. But pro-Israel voices are routinely anti-Palestinian, using "pro-Hamas" as shorthand for anyone who supports the Palestinian cause.
One could not conceive of a more textbook First Amendment violation. It will be an important test of the judiciary and elite academic institutions to see whether they crumble in the face of fascism.
If they can disappear permanent residents, they can disappear citizens too, and it won’t stop at protesters. They’re using the issue of Palestine as a test run because they know democratic leadership will be slow to respond, allowing them to normalize abducting whoever they want
SCOOP—Emails obtained by @zeteo_news show Mahmoud Khalil reached out for help from the Columbia administration *one day before* ICE detained him.
He said he couldn't sleep from threats he was receiving.
He even wrote he feared ICE "might come to my home."

Hakeem Jeffries issues statement on Mahmoud Khalil, saying “To the extent his actions were inconsistent with Columbia University policy and created an unacceptable hostile academic environment for Jewish students and others, there is a serious university disciplinary process that can handle the matter.”
Jeffries continues: “In the context of the arrest and detention of Mahmoud Khalil, DHS must produce facts and evidence of criminal activity. Absent evidence of a crime, such as providing material support for a terrorist organization, the actions undertaken by the Trump administration are wildly inconsistent with the United States Constitution.”
We firmly believe there should be swift and severe consequences for those who provide material support to foreign terrorist organizations, incite violence in support of terrorist activities, or conceal their identities in order to harass and intimidate Jewish individuals and institutions with impunity.
We appreciate the Trump Administration's broad, bold set of efforts to counter campus antisemitism — and this action further illustrates that resolve by holding alleged perpetrators responsible for their actions.
Obviously, any deportation action or revocation of a Green Card or visa must be undertaken in alignment with required due process protections. We also hope that this action serves as a deterrent to others who might consider breaking the law on college campuses or anywhere.

"ICE proudly apprehended and detained Mahmoud Khalil, a Radical Foreign Pro-Hamas Student on the campus of @Columbia University. This is the first arrest of many to come." –President Donald J. Trump
