I posted this on fb and insta, and some thought this was a dig at "white culture." I'm 100% aware of the complexities and diversities of European music.
But in the same way that people can generalise "African music" into one category I'd love to hear the European equivalent
Twice more she spoke about paintings of Black people and used different language. But on the last painting she told me how much she enjoyed painting c*l**red skin. I said dark skin, then she said dark skin as well.
This weekend I questioned why an elder referred to her beautiful painting of a black man as "c*ol*ured." I tried to be amicable, and nobody left the conversation offended, to my knowledge.
I don't know if she will change; she's offered to give me the painting.

Just had an interview about positive representation as a princess performer and I cried because it meant so much to be what I didn't have as a child lol
Sometimes castings for "Black performers" includes people like me and sometimes it doesn't and that's okay! It can just be tricky knowing who they are looking for!
