@Natalie_5000818 @MHR5000818 There are a few therapy dogs assigned to the different inpatient units at the hospital I have had placement and I agree. They seem to have such a positive impact on helping the consumers to self-soothe and brighten their mood

I'm on a child unit and the hospital has an on campus school for the kids to attend during the day to maintain a routine and structure. I thought this was a great idea and so beneficial. Is this similar for those on adolescent units? @MHR5000818

@Jemma5000818 @Jenny5000818 @MHR5000818 I believe they are used to have a grounding effect on the consumer and so they help to reduce agitation, distress, anxiety etc. Given these are symptoms of many MH conditions I'd say they can used for a lot of diagnoses!

I have seen this to be beneficial as it has made an agreement between the consumer and clinician and set a clear boundary

In reference to the assessment order and temporary treatment order. Only an authorised psychiatrist can determine whether a TTO is appropriate after an AO has been made. For now we could only consider whether he is voluntary or meets the criteria for an AO

Agreeing with @sana5000818, as we think there is a good chance he may have to go under the act avoid making promises and using Mike taking him home as a bargaining tool or a way to reduce his agitation

Before we move on to medications we could ask about Frankston... I think that's what came out of the timeout

At some point it may be good to address any recent substance use. It would be impacting his mental state and withdrawal could explain some of his physical symptoms
