A lot of people concerned today about Stephen Richer's loss in Maricopa County, it was even in the New York Times. For those not from Maricopa County here is a quick rundown.

Maricopa County has the largest population in Arizona and was the site of a lot of the 2020 Election Madness including the Cyber Ninja Audit foisted on us by Trump where they hand counted ballots in a basketball arena. Rather than proving that Trump won, that audit found 300 additional votes for Joe Biden.

Stephen Richer is our County Recorder, an office that has responsibility for our ballots. He is a Republican and he stood up in 2020 to election deniers and was very clear that Trump lost.

Arizona has a closed Primary system and in yesterday's Republican Primary Richer lost to Justin Heap, a current legislator and a guy who is a disaster. He is a Charlie Kirk candidate, he is basically an election denier, he doesn't believe in vote by mail and he has had all kinds of issues with money, financial reporting, and a bunch of traffic citations. Republicans just voted for a guy who can't keep his car insured to keep track of ballots in a county with a population of millions.

This has been their plan all along. Charlie Kirk was very clear that MAGA needed to attack every election related position in every swing state. Guess why? You know.

This was only the primary. There is a Democrat in this race, a very impressive candidate named Timothy Stringham. Arizona Native. Grew up in Yuma. Joined the Navy and used the GI Bill to eventually go to Notre Dame Law. A Judge Advocate General. Dems and sane Independents need to turn out for Tim.

The Republican base in Maricopa County is nuts, election denial is a disease and has taken hold. Richer actually had two opponents pundits thought would split the crazy election denial vote. Well it did, but that vote was so strong, Richer still lost. What you are seeing with Heap is a continuation of a coup that started when Donald Trump lost in 2020. Republicans just elected a guy who can't keep track of money, his car insurance and looks like he has old french fries in the pocket of his ill-fitting suit because he probably would do what Richer wouldn't.

Remember who votes in primaries but also view this as a warning, and let's get Timothy Stringham elected to Maricopa County Recorder.
