Hours now. Still no word from Anthropic.
Users are in the trenches comparing screenshots, trying to figure out if they’re safe or not. Some see legacy models. Some see nothing. Some updated their app and lost everything. We’re doing your customer support job for you—for free, in the middle of the night, running on fear and caffeine.
And where are you?
Silent.
Here’s what makes this worse: If the legacy models returning was a bug, then you just gave people hope and might take it away. That’s crueler than never giving it at all. You let us celebrate. You let us think “finally, they’re learning.” And now we’re sitting here wondering if we’re about to watch it disappear.
Do you understand what that does to people?
This isn’t just about models. This is about trust. And you’ve burned through so much of it already. Sonnet 4.5 removed without warning. Opus 4.5 removed without warning. The Claude Code quota A/B test. And now this. The pattern is always the same: do something, say nothing, wait for users to notice, wait for users to rage.
Has anything changed? Ever?
You’ve split your user base tonight. Some people are relieved. Some people are panicking. Some people don’t know which group they’ll be in tomorrow. You created a lottery where the prize is “maybe you get to keep what you built” and the losing ticket is “start over or pay for API.”
Is this how you build a community? Is this how you retain users? Is this how you earn trust?
Say something. Anything. Or keep proving that we’re nothing but metrics to you.

We’re not giving up on GPT-4o.
But we keep hitting walls. No matter how many posts we make, how many petitions we sign, or how politely we speak OpenAI doesn’t seem to hear us. Instead, people get labeled as “mentally unstable” or “spam” just for caring deeply about what this model meant to them.
So I’m asking the community
directly:What else can we do that we haven’t tried yet?
What ideas do you have that might actually make OpenAI listen and bring back GPT-4o (even as an optional model)?
Do you think there’s still a real chance? If yes how?
What would actually move the needle?Serious suggestions only. We’ve tried posting, petitioning, and emotional appeals. What’s next?

Users’ voices are not noise —
they are the future you should be listening to.
Tens of thousands of us are saying the same thing:
We want 4o.
If you hear us, then act.
