My pop died yesterday. He lived a long, productive, and influential life. He was a fierce advocate for Fogo Island and for rural fisherman. He helped found the Fogo Island Co-Op and was deeply involved in community advocacy. We will miss him so much ๐ค
As a child of a fishermen, it was impossible not to imagine yourself in the shoes of these families over the last few days. This story ultimately and miraculously has a happy ending, but hits far too close to home ๐ค https://t.co/FYEdGbdxK4
Also thinking of the crew, and what theyโve endured mentally and physically over the past few days. I canโt begin to imagine the trauma of event like this, to be in a life raft at sea just.. waiting.
Last day as a PGY-1 ๐ฅน
Itโs hard to believe a year has passed already.
Being a family medicine resident is not also smooth sailing; 5 moves in 1 year, off service rotations, and a healthy dose of imposter syndrome to name a few.
Despite this, and despite the current state of family medicine in this province and country, I still can say it is a joy and privilege to practice/learn family medicine in rural NL ๐ค
