Thank you @SkyNews for featuring the important work done by @NAPAC. Whilst a lot of media coverage tends to focus on organised #CSE - grooming gangs - childhood abuse is a much wider public health emergency. All abuse is wrong. NAPAC aims to support all survivors 16+.
'It is shocking, but weirdly, I feel hope because the more numbers we see, the more we know people are speaking out and talking about the abuse'

Abuse claims lawyers at Leigh Day have responded to calls for an inquiry into grooming gangs, saying another inquiry is not necessary now, and it is time for recommendations from the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse to be implemented https://t.co/bxs6x4U3cp
Voluntary registration on one of the @prof_standards registers is not enough to keep the public safe
Compulsory registration is needed so that no one can practise as a therapist outside a regulatory framework of safe, ethical practice

As an abuse claims lawyer, I am very aware that the therapy process can have a very important role in recovery from trauma
Ella's important campaign seeks to make sure that therapy is regulated, ethical and safe

Good article on Justin Welby’s tone deaf resignation speech. @churchofengland cannot be left in charge of its own safeguarding. Mandatory Reporting legislation https://t.co/IEJB04t6bz must be passed https://t.co/4WfS38WniL

Heartbreaking new footage of abuse at Whitefield School has surfaced. No child should ever endure such treatment. Since the allegations first came to light, I have pushed for a formal review of the circumstances to be carried out. Read my full statement https://t.co/vVUqlHawo8
NEW: The PM's office says the abuse of autistic children - revealed in CCTV I obtained - is "horrendous" and "must never happen again"
The DfE has known about the abuse for 3 yrs - w/o enhanced regulation
We found use of such rooms remains widespread

7. Law reform and statutory guidance is urgent so children in future are protected from ‘school prison cells’ and repeated physical restraints, and the trauma these can cause.
1. The #Whitefield School case - in relation to which my firm acts for several children and their families - is another example of appalling mistreatment, which in our view both breaches the duties of care and violates ECHR human rights @NoelTitheradge@ChildrensComm
6. The @EHRC says that mandatory national minimum standards should be set for recording the use of restraint in schools, inform parents about all incidences of restraint and this data should be analysed with the aim of minimising future use.
