Is it because I am a Myanmar fan?
Is it because it's a country with a bad political situation?
Is that why you can't respect us? Does an actor really discriminate and categorize fans like that?
GMMTV RESPECT OUR CULTURE
#RespectMyanmarCulture#CreditOurHeritage
To people from other countries, please remember what is happening right now. One day, your culture might be appropriated without permission for someone else's benefit, only for them to brush it off by saying,
“It’s just a fictional city.”
Thailand is extremely well-known for producing BL series, and a series starring popular BL actors can easily gain global attention.
When that happens, most viewers won't stop to wonder which country's traditional attire they are actually seeing. The impression left on the majority of audiences may simply be that “this is Thai culture.”
Today, it happens to be Myanmar's culture and traditional attire caught up in this controversy. Tomorrow, it could just as easily be your country's culture in the same situation.
GMMTV has taught us one important lesson: how crucial it is to preserve our cultural heritage, and just how united we can be when a crisis hits. I'm taking notes.
See you when the series airs...
I think they’ve become so intoxicated by their own “Thai soft power” that they’re running out of ideas and simply mixing everything together. When it comes to cultural identity and traditions, you can’t just mix things up like papaya salad. For decades, they’ve been doing this while neighboring countries were busy dealing with their own internal problems and were far less developed. But this is the internet and AI era, people can research these claims, trace the evidence, and start pushing back.
Could never look at these guys the same way again. Like what do u mean u're openly spreading racist stereotypes about a country as a public figure @fforcejs Even after ur previous apologies, I was still trying to give u the benefit of the doubt but bhai, this is too much.
really wondering where gmmtv is sourcing the most stupid, problematic actors from who dont even use their brain before tweeting shit like this😭 its honestly impressive how sm of them have said something horrible but what do you expect from a company that enables it. go to hell.
y'all cant be this empty headed. yk what production could do? put a clear disclaimer before every eps bcs appropriating cultures is no small matter! the fact y'all can't understand how pointless that statement is and expect ppl to accept it when there's no redress is disgusting
I hate this increasingly popular notion that fiction gives creators free pass to do whatever they want. This mindset has undermined entire genres.Fiction allows creative freedom, not freedom from logic, factual foundations, or internal consistency.Even imaginary universe needs rules
