its actually crazy that sword & shield is the game that came 3 years before scarlet & violet instead of the other way around because swsh are genuinely gorgeous games and don't get nearly enough credit for it
HGSS defenders will never come up with a coherent fact based argument that actually defends the garbage mechanics and glaring issues with the games because they don’t exist. It’s okay to like flawed games people
“Physical/Special split is bad” How long until we get someone saying the Special stat being split Gen 2 onwards is bad because this is just getting stupid atp.
@ShinyHaunter05@thjieves@JGMooreWriter idk, I think HGSS was hyped way more than the sinnoh games ever were. but it’s true the moment BDSP came out suddenly everybody always hated DP (which didn’t feel as prevalent before BDSP)
@ShinyHaunter05@thjieves@JGMooreWriter and that’s not to discount the additions they made. but the issues remained and made the games feel terrible to play through. the day/time system is hardly even an issue although I think it’s a valid complaint too. the level curve is a problem and I don’t get anyone defends it
@ShinyHaunter05@thjieves@JGMooreWriter this is actually where my distaste for HGSS comes from. they were the only main series games that I missed at launch, from RBY all the way to ZA. they were so hyped that when I played them a few years ago I was beyond disappointed that my issues with GSC weren’t touched at all
@thjieves@hydragoon513@ShinyHaunter05@JGMooreWriter This is exactly what I mean. The moment someone doesn’t like what you like, they simply “don’t understand it” that’s not how it works. I love DP and BDSP but I know they’re extremely flawed and you’ll never catch me defending them the way HGSS glazers ride for HGSS
@thjieves@hydragoon513@ShinyHaunter05@JGMooreWriter what it boils down to is that too many of you HGSS fans cannot fathom that people don’t like your favorite games, the criticisms are completely valid. if you enjoy them, more power to you. nothing bad faith about it
"Why do you want a sense of progression in your RPG instead of being content beating enemies made of marshmallows with your team comprised of tubes of cardboard?"
Yeah I want to be at a higher level because literally every other Pokemon game does not have this same problem.
@ShinyHaunter05@JGMooreWriter creating a game around that and then saying the developers don’t expect you to do that makes no sense. like sure it’s not necessary but the amount of things locked behind waiting weeks/months, playing on certain days, at certain times, etc. I have no idea how anyone defends this
@bottom_doog to be fair this is based on the HGSS glazers that act as though the pokéwalker is integral to the HGSS experience. and regardless I have no access to it myself so getting these opinions from the HGSS defenders seems pretty fair to me, all things considered
One of my strongest arguments against people that use the PokéWalker as some sort of crutch for HGSS is that the games are terrible without it
Imagine using the Dream World as a crutch for the Unova games. Thing is, Unova games hold up perfectly fine without these extra features
