There was a public participation event for the Nuclear Power Plant in Sakwa, Bondo, Siaya County.

The event turned into a protest following complaints from members of the public that state sponsored militia were under instructions to note down names and images of participants with divergent opinion concerning the proposed project.

The locals protested saying that they have freedom of expression and they must not be profiled for raising divergent views.

One person was shot in the leg and is currently undergoing treatment.
