@THEBUFOS said they want the project to be more than just a mint or a landing page, an experience. a place you have to walk and interact with.

what better way to make a wl application than bringing that experience to life in my own way.

so i built a paper diorama of the island, citadel, cathedral, docks, grove and the lighthouse with seventeen bufos (the ones they’ve teased at least) walking their own streets.

nico works the entrance, he wants a code before you’re let in. tap any character and they talk, one of them talks too much.

I think the easiest mistake with Kokomoji is judging them one at a time.

You look at one and see a funny character.

Then another appears and suddenly you notice how much personality can be squeezed into the same visual language.

That is what makes the collection work for me.

The expressions feel intentional. The weird combinations feel natural. Nothing has to scream for attention because the character already has it.

And that is difficult to pull off.

Anyone can make 3,333 variations.

The harder part is making 3,333 variations still feel like they belong to the same world.

Kokomoji does that while leaving enough room for each one to feel like itself.

That’s why I don’t see Kokomoji as just another PFP collection.

I see a character language being built in real time.

And honestly, that is the part I want to watch.

been looking at what @iamnick44 is building at @Kokomojinft, and found it intriguing. 3,333 kaomoji faces welded into little machines. wires, ports, buttons with no two being alike.

did a little digging. turns out, kaomoji were born on a Japanese service called ASCII NET in the 80s. so i built an ASCII converter for the teased pfps.
