Being assertive is cool until you realize that sometimes, standing up for yourself means disappointing people, being misunderstood, or creating distance with people you genuinely care about.
And I’m slowly learning that the goal isn’t to become so assertive that i stop caring about how my actions affect people but to find the balance between honouring myself and still having the capacity to consider and accommodate others.
Because at the end of the day not every boundary needs to be a battle, and not every discomfort means i’m doing something wrong.
Being assertive doesn’t mean being insensitive. Choosing yourself may disappoint others without making you selfish. Maturity means standing firm while making room for others.

I was talking to a lady back then, before we left camp. We have been talking for like a week or two.
Then one day, there was no light, my phone died and I had to go to a charging centre. I came back online around 2pm, expecting someone have been talking to for two weeks to at least say “Hi” or check if everything was okay since it was unusual for me to be offline that long.
I didn’t see any message from her.I stopped the conversation immediately and withdraw.
If I woke up and didn’t see her online till noon, I would’ve texted to ask if she was okay or what happened.
That’s when I realized she probably didn’t rate me as much as I rated her ….
No allow them f00l you.
The wave of schadenfreude towards Ekiti is now becoming a pattern. Everyone wants to dunk on the state.
And that state you're dunking on Ekiti over? Ekiti is doing better than it on most economic, HDI, & quality-of-life metrics.
You're just an ignorant fool still living in 2010
@Ade_Nurayn Two truths can co-exist.
Make more research on the relationship between OBJ and influence and contributions of the Shehu Musa Yar'Adua's PDM which Atiku inherented.
You'd understand that both of you are not wrong. @woye1
Let me be clear I'm not a supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the political party governing Lagos State. However, I believe good governance should be acknowledged wherever it exists.
One area where Lagos deserves recognition is its relatively strong grassroots governance. The state has created a system where local councils play visible roles in community development instead of concentrating everything at the state level. When local governments are empowered to carry out their responsibilities and manage resources effectively, service delivery improves, projects are executed faster, and government becomes more responsive to the people. They've been able to work on it efficiently and it's paying good for them.
