An 82-year-old Kentucky farmer was offered more than $26 million for her family land.
Most people would have taken the money.
She said no.
Her name is Ida Huddleston, and with her daughter, she refused to sell the land developers wanted for a data center project.
Because to them, it was not just land.
It was home.
It was history.
It was generations of family memories.
It was where loved ones had lived, worked, prayed, struggled, and built a life long before anyone came with a cheque.
That kind of place does not show up properly on a balance sheet.
You can count the acres.
You can calculate the value.
You can make an offer big enough to shock people.
But you cannot put a real price on roots.
For Ida and her daughter, $26 million was not enough to erase generations of belonging.
Their answer was simple.
Some things are not for sale.
