Masoumeh Ebtekar - also known as "Screaming Mary" - was the spokeswoman for the Islamic terrorists who stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1979 and held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days - subjecting them to beatings, starvation, and mock executions.

In 2014, the Obama Administration granted visas to her son and his family to enter the United States. In June 2016, the Obama Administration gave them lawful permanent resident status via the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program.

This week, I terminated their lawful permanent resident status and today, Seyed Eissa Hashemi, Maryam Tahmasebi, and their son are now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement pending their removal from our country.

Her family should never have been allowed to benefit from the extraordinary privilege of living in our country.

America can never become home for anti-American terrorists or their families - and under the Trump Administration, it never will.

We call on U.S. authorities to take the imprisonment of Maryam Tahmasbi, the wife of Masoumeh Ebtekar’s son, much more seriously.

They live in the United States with money brought here by individuals associated with the Iranian regime, and they remain aligned with the same ideology. They should not be treated as harmless people, especially given their ability to travel freely between the United States and Iran.

Many Iranians have given people like them a name: “Ambassadors of Darkness.”

Do not believe their lies, staged performances, or attempts to portray themselves as victims.

According to long-standing allegations, not only Masoumeh Ebtekar but also her husband—the father-in-law of Maryam Tahmasbi—were among those involved in the 1979 seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, with reports alleging that American hostages were threatened with death.

We urge U.S. authorities to investigate these matters seriously and to consider whether individuals connected to the Iranian regime should be allowed to freely operate between Iran and the United States.

آن روز که داریوش آشوری و شهلا شفیق اینجا ایستادند نوشتم که «این فقط داریوش آشوری نبود که آنجا ایستاد، فتحعلی آخوندزاده بود، سیدحسن تقی‌زاده بود، دهخدا بود، فروغی بود، کسروی بود، شاهرخ مسکوب بود، بهرام بیضائی بود.»؛ روشنفکریِ دورهٔ بیداریِ ایران بود که آنجا کنارِ پرچم‌دارِ مشروطهٔ ایران ایستاده بود. در دیدارمان با ایشان ـــ‌که «گفتگویی» مفصل و تمام‌عیار بود‌ـــ گفتم ما خود را ادامه‌دهندهٔ راهِ این سنّتِ فکریِ میهن‌دوستانه می‌دانیم و انگیزه و اراده‌مان این است که از فرازِ روشنفکریِ سرشکسته و شکست‌خوردهٔ ۵۷ پلی به «روشنفکرانِ خطِ بیداری» بزنیم‌. آن روز آن اتاق خاکِ ایران بود و ما، ایرانیانی که لحظه‌لحظه از سرنوشتِ ایران و بچه‌های ایران گفتیم و شنیدیم.

باور دارم که اکنون احیای دولتِ ملّی و تحققِ آرمانِ مشروطه در بسترِ تاریخِ ایران مجرایی جز حمایت و همراهی با شاهزاده پهلوی ندارد و پرچمی که در هر کجای جهان با خود دارد همان پرچمی‌ست که روزی به‌دستِ او به خاکِ خستهٔ ایران بازمی‌گردد. ایستادن در کنارِ آن ایرانیِ میهن‌پرست، رهبرِ انقلابِ شیروخورشید، مایهٔ سربلندیِ هر شهروندِ ایرانی‌ست که مهرِ ایران به دل دارد و در چهارچوبِ آن چهار اصلِ بنیادین خواستارِ بازپس‌گیریِ ایران از چنگالِ بربران است.

مشتی نویسندهٔ حقیر و جزم‌اندیش در این چند روز کوشیدند با فحش و خوارداشت و حملاتِ شخصی به‌خیالِ خودشان من و دیگر دوستان را از این دیدار پشیمان کنند، همچنان که تقلا کرده بودند داریوش آشوری و شهلا شفیق و دیگر نویسندگان را تنبیه کنند تا کسی جرأت نکند پشتِ سرشان قدم بردارد.

نمی‌دانند که این تقلاها هرچه بیشتر شود، عزم و ارادهٔ نویسندگانی را که به این راه باور دارند در پیمودنش بیشتر می‌کند. اقلیتی بسیار کوچک و بسیار پرسروصدا نمی‌تواند جلودارِ نویسندگانی شود که جزئی از ملّتی هستند که در آن دو شبِ بزرگِ خونین خواست و اراده‌اش را به دوست و دشمن اعلام کرد.
