I took 1.5 days off from clinic this week to lecture and help out with simulations and interprofesional education at a local PA program, and I’d forgotten how much teaching energizes me.

I *love* engaging with students and getting them to think critically.

@RuralFMPA Changing specialties from ortho to psych and seeing the discrepancies b/w the rate that people will rx long-term Norco or other controlled pain meds but will hesitate to rx stimulants really drives me nuts.

Use a validated screening, monitor for misuse, and trust patients.

@NurseGomer A revision is always going to be a bit of a wild card, though. More scar tissue, more sensitivity, planes of tissue aren’t as clean when dissecting during surgery, etc.

@NurseGomer I work with a hand/elbow surgeon and he only does transpositions for his cubital tunnel releases; I’ve never seen him do just an in situ release. We remove sutures at 8-10 days and let our patients do whatever they want at that point. Most don’t have any issues at all with pain.
