We still have many posters for sale, if you are interested please hit me up and we can arrange pickup/shipment.
If you took any photos/videos at the event, please share them! I've created a public album here: https://t.co/0d5YQNI3D3
For those of you that were watching from home, I'm so sorry about the technical difficulties, and I'll be posting the rest of the vod later this week.
One more post about Resurrection 2. What an awesome event, the competition was fierce and food was succulent. Getting to commentate the whole tournament was a pleasure and everyone I was on the mic with made it even better. Next time we’re bringing more AZ warriors!
Queege does more DEDs than any other Ken I've played over the years. Dude has a third eye watching his meter or something. Really keeps you on your toes.
Ressurection 2 was an absolute blast! Will 💯 be attending this yearly! Shoutout to @Shakunetsu3S@Matteo_R_C and the rest of onlycabs for an absolutely amazing event!
got home from Resurrection at 12am this morning, ive been itching to post about it since Saturday!
broke my phone frame 1 getting off the plane in the strange and foreign land of Toronto... no maps,no contacting people, no checking my flight, and worst of all no selfies 😱 (1/3)
Toronto Resurrection II Recap Poe-st
I’m gonna lead off with the people this time, because this was one of the first tournaments I’ve attended for which connecting with people was a bigger draw than playing the game.
I finally got to meet so many of my favorite Fightcade training partners IRL, and meeting every single person exceeded my lofty expectations!
As soon as I walked in the door, I met Italdan and Moe (aka Stefan Urquelle/Gojira X/Slurms MacKenzie on FC), and with their warm greetings, the entire trip was already worth it, all the adversity I’d fought to attend be damned!
Italdan I’d only become aware of recently*, but he had already made a very positive impression, both in-game, when I saw him deep in bracket with all of the Toronto killers and on FC when we played for the first time just a couple of weeks ago, and out-of-game, with his positive energy and all of the nice things everyone says about him. He backed all of that up IRL! You were such an amazing host, dude, and I can’t wait for more games and good times!
*I found out last night that he was a very high level SF4 and even SFV player (in the latter, despite not practicing 😂), and in hindsight I did think his name was a little familiar, so perhaps I had previously caught wind of someone people say is a “true Toronto legend” back in the day!
As for Moe, I’ve been saying for years that he is the most difficult Dudley I’ve ever played, bar NONE (Yomoda I don’t count because I’ve only played a few games against him), and I was thrilled when he started playing offline in Toronto, both to see how he’d perform and because I finally figured out who that guy was 😂 Several Canadian players have described him as “the strongest player in Toronto,” and he’s won a shitton of tournaments. It turns out he’s played off-and-on for 20 years, and after playing Hitbox for a while, he switched back to stick to join the burgeoning offline scene. I can attest that his auto-parrying is still mostly intact on stick—he fully parried my antiair SA1 into air tatsu twice in a row in casuals 😂 Super nice and chill guy, too! I told Moe that I feel strong against Dudley and it is completely thanks to our many epic sets over the years. It was an honor playing him.
In no particular order (and I’m sure I’ll leave folks out):
Eddiestill, you have been such a beacon of light in my 3S journey the last year or two, and as I said today, you were exactly how I imagined you’d be! Haha Your support is extremely meaningful, and it was such a pleasure to chat with you and build the hype together! Many more good times ahead!
@Messatsu_hk, we’ve always had super fun games and meeting my Akuma brother IRL was awesome! Thank you for your warm welcome, and let’s keep pushing Akuma to the limit!
@orogasm2, you were also just as lovely as expected, and it was great to finally meet you! I agree that we should play much more often, and I’m excited to keep getting stronger with you!
@Joyuz3, I’m glad we got to connect a bit more, too! You’ve come so far and look all grown up from the last time I saw you at Jazzy Finale 😂 keep up the great work, and we will train together for sure 💪
Queege, you have been a legend in my mind since the first time I played you and felt like I had no idea how to play 3S. Your style is 100% your own, and I have been calling whiff punishes with super “The Queege” for years. Unlike some of the others, I didn’t have as strong of an idea of what you’d be like IRL, but you are even more legendary out of game. Your leadership in the Toronto scene I have no doubt is a huge part of why everything has blossomed (exploded!) as it has. Thanks so much for everything, especially sensing that I needed a pep talk after the tourney and guiding me back to having a great time during top 8 :) Congrats on your excellent performance, and next time I see you online… “let’s dance” 🤠
