@NYCMediaMonitor@TheBackPage Lesbian here. I don’t want to buy the jersey of any individual who doesn’t think I deserve equal rights or that I’m going to burn in hell. Why would I want to put money in that man’s pocket? I’m a Royals fan but once I found out Dayton Moore was drafting people based on
@EldrickTay26324@AsyncCollab@TheBackPage I don’t want to give people my money who think I’m going to burn in hell or choose to vote against my humanity. Why would anyone want to do that?
@jennfrey@jmkeegin I went to a top liberal arts college and believe it or not we read so many of the great books there. Our English department had at most one class a semester that taught books written after Fitzgerald, Hemingway or Woolf.
@CynicalPublius@KNBR@knbrmurph@MarkusBoucher Yes. Christians are anti-inclusion and kindness. Glad they are finally owing it. I’ve never met more hateful people than evangelical Christians.
@JeffStanek1 Could meet in the middle might lead us toward our better angels. I appreciate you taking the time to listen to my experiences. Thanks Jeff. :)
@JeffStanek1 I honestly think that the majority of us could have good faith discussions if we were willing to listen. Hostility and vitriol won’t get any of us anywhere. I firmly believe that given the chance most of us would choose to act kindly and finding a place where the majority of us

It’s really terrifying to believe you will spend the rest of eternity in the lake of fire for something you really can’t help. And I don’t believe that the Jesus I see in the Bible would support that
@JeffStanek1@HeDwells Back at you. Some of us are still traumatized and it’s nice to see people who are willing to have our back. I attend the pride parade in a smallish city. The groups that primarily march on the parade are churches, which is certainly a surprise for someone who couldn’t find
@JeffStanek1@HeDwells It gives kids hope. Things like pride ultimately saved my life. And if you’ll remember as recently as 2022 LGBTQ, citizens and allies were murdered in a bar while they were minding their own business. Not to mention the 50 people slaughtered at Pulse because they were gay.
@JeffStanek1@HeDwells An increase in suicide amongst teens in the LGBTQ community, the goal was to keep children from killing themselves when faced with bigotry and hatred that especially arose in the evangelical community.
