ہم امید کرتے ہیں آہینی عدالت ان قاتلوں کو بھی سزا سنائے گا جنہوں نے بے گناہ بلوچوں قتل عام کیا ہے۔

Dr. Mahrang Baloch and her colleagues have now spent more than 450 days behind bars.
Throughout this period, and in fact long before their imprisonment, state representatives, the military’s media wing and its supporters have publicly accused Mahrang and BYC of everything from supporting terrorism to acting as a proxy for armed groups. These allegations have been repeated across media channels and official platforms. The public has been told, again and again, that Mahrang Baloch represents a grave threat to Pakistan’s national security.
However, if the state is so certain of its allegations against my sister and her colleagues, why keep the trial hidden from the people of Pakistan?
The public has not seen Mahrang or the other imprisoned BYC leaders for months. Their proceedings were first moved behind prison walls through jail trials. They are now being conducted through the faceless court system, where the accused, their lawyers, and the judge appear from separate locations through video links rather than before an open courtroom.
At the same time, the state is pushing for a speedy trial. BYC’s legal team is already facing more than 50 FIRs, yet the prosecutor general, the state, and the court continue to demand that these cases be run on a near-daily basis, six to seven times a week, so that they are concluded as quickly as possible. In effect, the state wants the most serious allegations repeated publicly, but tested privately; it wants a conviction right away, but through proceedings that the public cannot see.
That is not due process. It is a travesty and a mockery of the law, especially when the allegations being made are so grave. If the evidence exists, present it. If the case is strong, argue it. If the allegations are true, prove them. But do so in an open courtroom, before the public in whose name these proceedings are supposedly being conducted.
For more than a year, the state has asked the people of Pakistan to trust its claims about Dr. Mahrang Baloch and the BYC, without substantiating any of its charges in open court. An open trial would allow them to determine whether any of these charges can withstand scrutiny and transparency.

Why Is Dr. Mahrang Baloch's Trial Being Pushed Into the Dark?
For the past fifteen months, my sister, Dr. Mahrang Baloch, and other detained leaders of the Baloch Yekjehti Committee, including Sabghat Ullah Shah Jee, Beebarg Zehri, Gulzadi, and Beebow Baloch, have remained behind bars on the basis of allegations that are weak, questionable, and yet to be proven, despite the passage of fifteen months since their arrest. Throughout this unfair trial, the detained leaders of the BYC have continued to respect the law, trust the Constitution, and pursue every available legal avenue rather than abandon their faith in the justice system.
And what have they received in return for respecting the law and believing in the courts and the Constitution? Unfair proceedings, faceless trials, trials conducted inside jail premises, and prolonged delays.
First, their cases were shifted from an open court to a jail trial. Now, even that limited access is being further restricted. These proceedings are being turned into what appears to be a faceless trial, removed from public scrutiny and accountability. Can justice truly be served behind closed doors?
Equally alarming is the continued interference and extraordinary interest shown by the Government of Balochistan in these proceedings, including efforts to expedite the cases and obtain updates from the court. This raises a fundamental question: why is the government so invested in influencing the pace of an ongoing judicial process? Since when does the executive have a role in matters that fall solely within the jurisdiction of an independent judiciary?
We are also deeply troubled by the conduct of the judge overseeing these proceedings. The manner in which the trial is being conducted increasingly creates a perception of bias rather than impartiality and judicial independence.
This is not just about Dr. Mahrang Baloch and the other jailed BYC leaders. It is about the integrity of the justice system itself.
We are not asking for special treatment. We are demanding what the Constitution guarantees to every individual under Article 10A: an independent, transparent, and fair trial, where justice is not only done, but is also seen to be done.
