@Renmakesmusic I thought this 'blueprint for peace' looked pretty good. Addressing the structural causes of violence like employment, housing, investing in young people, building on the strengths of the existing community. All developed with the community as a whole https://t.co/DEdJRDueGz
Wonderful ideas being shared by Cormac Russel around enhancing the strengths in communities. An interesting article about the Milwaukee 'blueprint for peace' which looks at violence prevention at a community level.

The 80-20 rule, which was popular some time ago, suggests that 80% of outcomes stem from 20% of efforts (inputs) in any given situation. Applied to collective community trauma, the aim is to identify and focus on the most effective strategies for healing. It's crucial to prioritize the most productive responses, especially in the wake of riots. In communities across the UK, people have organized to care for, protect, and unite their communities. It's high time to recognize and celebrate their efforts. Display their valour on national news and share their stories to uplift and honor them and their neighbours. Many of these individuals were the first responders, standing shoulder to shoulder with their frightened neighbors. They are numerous and invaluable. We need to support them and avoid solely relying on punitive measures aimed at violent minorities, as lifting communities up first supplemented by intelligent enforcement will yield far better results. While enforcement and consequences are important, the emphasis should be on investing in these communities and those who promote peace and solidarity. Taking money away from the many and the strong to use to punish the few who have done wrong is misguided. Start with what's strong to address what’s wrong, and make what’s strong even strong. Get the equity to these neighbourhoods. There may be ideas to draw on in great examples like Blueprint for Peace in Milwaukee. https://t.co/MhljHwyH2c
I am appalled to hear about the violence and destruction happening in Middlesbrough and thinking of all our students and community members who are having to live through it.
Disabled people’s organisations have vowed to be a “critical friend” to the new Labour government, but they have called for it to “show our community that you will be on our side”.

Southgate objectively has the best record of any England manager. I hope he wins the euros, he has shown intelligence, dignity and composure, and would love to see his story arc complete on a high. Loads of psychology in his mindset approach to the game. Well done lads.
“We all want to be loved, right?”.
This last answer of Gareth Southgate’s @England 🏴 press conference 🇳🇱 shows how the criticism of him earlier in the tournament hurt him personally.
So happy he/they have managed to turn it around. He’s a great leader.

We have developed 4 modules, the first one is aimed at anyone with an interest in understanding suicide, the other three modules go into more depth into the psychology of understanding and preventing suicide #Science2PreventSuicide@darkdancer84
Health inequalities still matter, particularly around poverty, deprivation and suicide. The North East still showing very high levels, and my own area of Redcar and Cleveland with some of the highest levels. Hoping we can address this in partnership with local organisations.
The term “levelling up” is being scrapped.
But the health inequalities it should have helped address, based on where people live, persist.
Including in #suicideprevention, where major geographical differences are found. 1/9
