These Gen Zs led by my mentee Advice Mu Dali chose not to play victim, but rather to fight for a place at the table. They are involved in leadership in politics and business and are driving positive change through policy formulation and implementation. They are busy finding solutions to the challenges that affect Kenya and Africa. The African Youth Convention at the Kenya School of Government is a classic example of what youths can achieve through strategy and focused leadership. I congratulate them for organising a hugely successful convention.

While it's clear that Gen Zs know what they don't want, I am not sure that most of them know what they want and how to get it. This is where there's need for mentorship, guidance, the wisdom of the elders and people who love them genuinely. Let us not shy away from engaging. Part of loving our youths is telling them the truth and guiding them to succeed.
