Mike Bloesch is back at North Texas, in a town he loves and a role he has excelled in.

“Just because you weren’t picked, doesn’t mean you aren’t chosen”- Undrafted
You can’t see it right now, but your story is just beginning. I know your phone didn’t ring, no one called your name, & a dream has been delayed… but all you need is 1 opportunity.
Don’t let this weekend define you nor your value. You’ve put the work in before. It’s time to lock in, & do more. Know you belong, and it’s your job to convince those who don’t. It’s still your time! Don’t let anyone tell you different!

@BarackObama I agree violence has no place in democracy. I need you to just stop giving polite reassurances. We have to call out leaders who ignore the rules while expecting everyone else to follow them. Courage is real and accountability matters too. Dems being soft is what got us here.
Left Denton feeling optimistic after the Spring Showcase. 💪
North Texas’ O-line looks bigger and more physical than last year, my pick on who is trending toward QB1, and this WR group is deep. Keep an eye on Dalton Carnes and TE Max Reese 👀

North Texas entered spring practice with 3 contenders for the QB job.
That's just the way the Mean Green left it after Saturday's showcase.
Hear from all three, see who stood out, see the unofficial stats and catch a video chat with coach Neal Brown ...

ICYMI -- North Texas is counting on a host of newcomers to make an impact this fall.
The Mean Green have started to see what their additions have to offer during spring practice.
Here are six players who have stood out.

He’s 21 years old.
Top Recruit
Plays D1 football.
Earning $500,000/year from NIL + revenue sharing.
Instead of:
Buying new cars and posting receipts.
We are:
Building a financial foundation.
Here’s how we helped him do it...
-
We set up an LLC and elected S Corp taxation.
At $500K of 1099 income, self-employment taxes alone were eating him alive.
That one move will save 5 figures in taxes.
But we didn’t stop there…
We opened a Solo 401(k).
In 2026, he can contribute:
• $24,500 as an employee
• $47,500 as an employer
Nailing his salary number along the way to make sure we our % of salary could equal the max employer contribution number.
$72,000, we deferred taxes on, saving him more than $25,000 in taxes today (between state and federal).
Next, we added $7,000 more into a tax-free bucket.
This was done through a backdoor Roth IRA.
That’s $79,000 put in tax-advantaged accounts.
And finally…
We opened a “tax holding” account.
The dollars he’ll owe to the IRS...
They’re sitting in a high-yield account earning ~4%+.
Let that sink in:
He’s earning interest on money the IRS hasn’t even touched yet.
He’ll leave college with:
• Savings
• Structure
• A head start most pros never had
So when an eventual pro contract (for much more money) comes in, he knows the foundation for handling this money.
That is how you win with the money you earn in college.
@owingsderek Coach DO,
You were one of the main reasons I encouraged my son to commit to IU. Your presentation during our OV was motivating and really stood out. I hope he soaked up everything you taught him this year.
Congrats and good luck moving forward!
