Why are modern movies lit like -THAT-? All your questions are answered - in typically discursive and rigorous fashion - during my final lighting lecture for @VIFFest, available now on the video streaming platform that starts in "Y"!

wrote about the 2004 anime Monster and how it both invented the modern prestige streaming formula and outdid every single show in the same mold. i also disclosed how it inspired me to take part in the stupidest creative project of all time. https://t.co/XE3dVizTD7
DISCLOSURE DAY is shot using anamorphic lenses with a 2.39:1 ratio. There won't be an expanded aspect ratio in IMAX theaters. But, you'll still benefit from the screen size and sound.
It'll be letterboxed in 1.90 and 1.85 auditoriums, but it will fill an entire 2.39 screen. Dolby Cinemas will project the film in 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Also available in standard 70mm at select locations!
LONG LIVE FILM 🎞️
Devastated to hear the entire Marvel Studios’s Visual Development team has been let go. This was my old home but more importantly, the home of so many incredible artists and peers.
Bewildering and heartbreaking 😔 Sending all my support to impacted peers

A terrific new book, Cinematic Immunity, by Michael Lee Nirenberg, is a fascinating and teeming oral history of New York movie-making (Hollywood-produced), such as On the Waterfront, The French Connection, The Godfather, Saturday Night Fever, Do the Right Thing, and Goodfellas—
