📣It’s the 4th week of school for me.

A school shooting in GA,
A teacher had to create a GoFundMe for housing expenses after living in their car all summer because they couldn’t afford rent on their salary. It’s heartbreaking. 💔

At the same time, I put out a call for help a day ago, asking for classroom snacks, and generous individuals—who aren’t even parents of my students—reached out immediately to offer their support.

I met both of them.

Clara and Mary Elizabeth were regal. Miss them both very much.

I think Principals/APs are truly in catch22 situation. Damned if you do. Damned if you don’t. That’s a hard place to be in. Especially navigating relationships with 100+ staff.

I’ve had some disrespectful administrators and early in my career- I never spoke up for myself. I thought that was normal for leadership to demean, inflict fear and harm was “just the way it works” in education.

I’m self aware to say I was not always the superstar teacher either. I may did not speak up but my actions were lackluster to reflect my disdain.
