The more I question my intelligence and how much I actually know as a scientist in this vast world, the more I realize it's a healthy thing to do and I must be doing something right. Because not enough people on this planet question what they know, or if it's even correct at all.
We are inviting expressions of interest to host the International Statistical Ecology Conference (ISEC) in 2026! ISEC has been a great event to build connections across our community all over the world.

@SketchesbyBoze This one sentence from @theferocity's How We Fight For Our Lives gets me every time:
"The sweetness we deny ourselves because the world is wailing."
"Build a brush pile," they said. "It'll be kinda ugly, but it'll bring all the birds to the yard," they said.
They were right.
(I've never seen Golden-crowned Sparrows in my neighborhood other than in my brush pile! This photo also contains White-crowned.)
Hot off the printer, here’s my poster for #BESMove2023 on how prey distribution influences #HumpbackWhale movements! Unfortunately I can no longer attend @BES_Move_SIG, but I’m more than happy to chat and answer any questions here or via email 🌊🐟🐋
Earlier this summer @ibddoctor, @PipingHotData, and I gave a workshop on cleaning data in R for the R/Medicine Conference. Not sure when the recording will be available but the slides are available here for anyone who is interested! #rstats

PhD students! You need a rest! & I don’t mean passing out from burnout; I mean friends, laughter, live music, play, sunshine, the ocean, audiobooks (unrelated to research), sex, comfort food, bad reality TV, romance novels—
whatever gives you unadulterated joy

Listening/watching to DnD games at home hits so differently than on my walks. I get minutes in before I start thinking of my own campaign and then I’m off to grab a book or eight to start looking stuff up. Hashtag DM life.
