LIB: I would prefer to talk about the subject of the hearing.

GILL: This is the subject of the hearing. This is about protests outside of abortion clinics. I'm asking you about abortion.

An illegal immigrant from Venezuela is in federal custody after being shot by an ICE officer in Austin, sparking protests as questions remain over what led up to the incident.

@Brooketaylortv reports DHS says 28-year-old Wilber Garces Perez entered the U.S. illegally during the Biden administration and had a final order of removal. His attorney says he was making a DoorDash delivery when he was shot in the torso.

About 100 protesters gathered at the scene, with local reports claiming rocks and water bottles were thrown at law enforcement.

DHS has not yet said what prompted the officer to open fire.
