The Justice Department announced today that it plans to monitor compliance with federal voting rights laws in 86 jurisdictions in 27 states for the Nov. 5 general election. https://t.co/pp2IawoUjW
Senior Harris campaign officials say aides "fully expect" Trump will declare victory before all votes are counted and that there are hundreds of lawyers around the country and in battleground states with "thousands of pages of pleadings" ready to fight GOP legal maneuverings.
Don't sleep on state supreme courts!
Michigan's may flip.
So could Ohio's.
Kentucky's may take a step left.
Montana's, 2 big steps right.
Right hopes to gain in North Carolina & Oklahoma.
Arizona progressives aim for 1st-ever ousters.

This is pretty ominous news for several reasons. First, weather models suggest this could become a significant hurricane & make landfall in a more populated part of FL vs. Helene. Second, national disaster response (FEMA) funding is now depleted unless there's rapid intervention.
One of the tragedies of Hurricane Helene is how few people had flood insurance.
I pulled data from FEMA for every county in North Carolina.
In most inland communities, less than 1% of homes were insured before the storm.

Exxon can and should be held liable for its historic (and ongoing) lies and deception about recycling as a solution to plastic waste and the devastating harms CA communities are facing as a result. Thank you @AGRobBonta for your leadership!
🚨BREAKING: California @AGRobBonta is suing ExxonMobil, the world’s largest contributor to single-use plastic waste, over its decades-long fraud to convince the public that recycling is a viable solution to the spiraling plastic waste crisis.

We continue to bankroll the very fossil fuel companies responsible for the climate crisis.
Let’s finally end taxpayer subsidies to fossil-fuel companies.
@BernieSanders and I have a bill to do just that. Let’s get it done.

📣 New poll from us & @DataProgress:
The vast majority of U.S. voters — including 54% of Republicans — support legal action against Big Oil & the plastics industry for lying about the viability of plastic recycling and causing the plastic waste crisis. https://t.co/YFjmxzeOYT
🇺🇳 Important 🆕 report by UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres on #LossAndDamage & #HumanRights ⚖️
The report leaves no doubt: under international human rights law, countries & corporations responsible for the #ClimateCrisis must remedy climate-related harms.
Highlights👇🧵\1
We can’t trust an arsonist to put out the fire & we can’t trust @exxonmobil to address climate crisis.
Voters don’t want Exxon’s bullshit tainting the #DNC — they want bold commitments to #EndFossilFuels w/ a #GreenNewDeal.
My thoughts on @democracynow:
I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party—and unite our nation—to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda. If you’re with me, add a donation right now.

new: Shell has quietly backed away from a pledge to rapidly increase its use of “advanced recycling” — a practice producers have long promoted as a solution to the plastics crisis — @climatecosts and I found.

BREAKING: @AZAGMayes@RobBonta lead 14 attorneys general to urge @fema to recognize extreme heat & wildfire smoke as major disasters.
As extreme heat suffocates the country, FEMA should be deploying lifesaving infrastructure, not lackluster leadership.
