@cm@DenneyDara I was going to write a multi brand answer but this lne covers it. Love my Le Creuset dutch oven—I’ve had it for 12 years. And All-Clad pans never fail me, they have great sets.
"I can't believe you were late again." and "It really hurt my feelings that you were late again. I'm curious what happened and I'd like to talk about it." are two *very* different ways of handling conflict.
Can you spot the difference?
The first is highly likely to lead to defensiveness. The second invites the type of conversation that can deepen your connection and leave you getting your needs met next time.
Curiosity > judgement. ALWAYS.
Mental health needs to focus on prevention, not just treatment. Prevention looks like: getting enough sun, eating nutrient dense food, building healthy relationships, and learning how to regulate your nervous system.
I love the look of enamel pins but have no idea what to do with them. Where do self-respecting adults who don't sport a Jansport anymore put such things?
🎁 Great gift idea: allowing the people you love to change and grow.
And, bonus gift: Adjusting your perception accordingly instead of holding them to how they were when they were younger.
@lbelgray I had never watched Twilight until 2022. It’s a never I wish I had never given up.
I find Twilight, having kids, and Coachella all equally overrated.
Tried sea urchin in a dish this week. Discovered sea urchins taste like tiny tongues of the sea with the added textural horror similar to that of a too thick portobello mushroom.
Prompt reaction: Nope. Noooope. Nope.
Successful relationships are created in how you repair after a protective or unhealed part has accidentally stolen the show. Hiding them is denying them. Becoming aware though allows for transmutation. Conflict is a gift when handled compassionately.
Successful relationships aren’t about two healed people coming together to have the perfect relationship.
They’re about unhealed people having the courage to show the parts of themselves they usually hide.
They’re about unhealed people learning how to ask for help, accept help, and build security.
They’re about unhealed people forgiving themselves and each other over and over again.
They're about unhealed people crying together on the kitchen floor as they repair after conflict.
They're about unhealed people learning how to leave fight or flight.
Sometimes when you’re (re)learning that it’s ok to have needs & express them an inner voice pops up desperately wanting you to justify why you have the need so that it feels more comfortable having it.
It’s not necessary.
This example word swap is a great one.
@reese@jonnym1ller I don’t mind when people ask if I’ve tried things. I didn’t. I did a bunch to help my gut & histamine levels overall (including but not limited to vagus nerve stuff) and it helped. It’s back to normal as of 2 mos ago after a year and a half. ✨
Why learning how to regulate our nervous systems is more foundational than the (gluten free) flour in a chocolate cupcake. (With vanilla icing of course).🧁
@jonnym1ller has great tweets on all things nervous system.
