Hayek had a big idea a long time ago
and that was :

Markets are great at collecting what people know because they are our best tools for coordinating human knowledge.

No single person Or even AI knows everything. the knowledge needed to run a society is spread across billions of individual minds.

How do you get everyone to act on information only a few people have?

Hayek argued that prices are brilliant data aggregators. they transmit critical, local insights about scarcity, demand, and opportunity faster than any email or meeting.

Think about it like this:

A drought hits somewhere. wheat gets scarce.

Farmers don’t know about the drought.

Bakers don’t know about the drought.

But the wheat price went up.

Farmers plant more. Bakers use less.

Nobody coordinated. the price just told everyone what to do.

Wild, right?

Prices collect knowledge from everyone.

As each person holds one tiny piece. the price adds them all up and tells everyone what to do next.

But there was a problem;

this only worked for physical goods like copper, wheat or oil.

What about the knowledge in YOUR head?

Like when you KNOW your team’s gonna win.

Or you can tell the market’s about to crash.

Or you could tell the election results before they happen.

Or you know Chelsea is going to win against Barcelona.

That knowledge stayed locked away because there was no way to trade this information… then.

People tried to fix this with prediction markets. you know, bet on events and stuff.

Traditional prediction markets promised the future, but they hit walls; limited access, geographical restrictions, trusted intermediaries, slow settlements.

With the constant need for a centralized authority to decide what was true. the tech wasn’t ready then.

Then blockchain arrived.

Suddenly predictions could be:

~ Settled instantly when events resolve

~ Verified by code, not institutions

~ Accessed by anyone

~ Built on trustless infrastructure

The infrastructure finally existed to price knowledge like commodities.
