Member of Devon Branch Butterfly Conservation - but I love seeing all insects, trees, flowers, birds etc and try to take their photos whenever possible!
The post-harvest rural landscape can be a challenging one for pollinators. Please do what you can to retain late-flowering bramble, thistles, ragworts, scabiouses, clovers, Hogweed, Yarrow, sowthistles, bindweeds, hawkbits, White dead-nettle etc. Don't mow everything!
Hi @BritishBugs, could this nymph seen recently be Miridius quadrivirgatus? Found in coastal grasslands South Devon. Also see adult found close by last July, i will put both on @iRecordWildlife if you agree.
Small Blue at Berry Head. An approximate 30 seen on the path to, and in the Quarry. An amazing re-introduction by @BCDevon and @AmandaH782@savebutterflies
Take a look at your Devon neighbours @Torbay_Council plans in place for rewilding and biodiversity safeguarding. Is there a policy and staff that know what they are doing in place for #Torbay ?
Just finished a complete overhaul of the Lygaeidae section of British Bugs, with 18 new species accounts and many new images, including habitus photos + genitalia for some species. Thanks to everyone who has contributed images.

The great thing about #lichen spotting is that it is open to all and you need not venture far. Lichens can be found growing on bark, rocks, or walls. Pavements, churchyards and woods can he particularly happy hunting grounds https://t.co/ByYlHMA2aG @BBCSpringwatch#Winterwatch
Walked around Cockington for a few hours today and recorded 40 species. I found some new ones for us in Manscombe Woods, two Marsh Tit and 4 Siskin still present along the Watermeadows @DevonBirds@TorCoastCountry#Torquay
@martinswarren I went looking in a tree I found one in (by chance) 2 years ago. They must really tike this combination of twigs & dead leaves caught up in the twigs and I can see how it helps them stay hidden.
#bcagm Well done BC for AGM online. Some slides in the AGM section would have been appreciated. Excellent talk thanks to @RichardFoxBC I would be very disappointed if next years AGM was not in some way accessible to take part online. @savebutterflies@BCDevon
Good to be able to attend first BC AGM ever. #bcagm Online event is much more accessible than having to travel long distances to attend. @savebutterflies@BCDevon
Looking forward to talk by @RichardFoxBC
