My grandmother trained to be a pilot after she graduated from high school. She was one solo flight away from getting her license. How lucky am I, decades later, to be able to go up in a plane from her time? It's an opportunity I couldn't let pass. Here's to you, Grandma. ❤

Why aren't we talking more about this?
Nobody should have to fight this hard to stay here with their loved ones, or keep their family here with them. Barriers to treatment and medication, and barriers to re-enter society afterwards, are killing people.

Pittsburgh Police and Medics were involved in today’s response in Butler. They — along our firefighters and entire public safety apparatus — run toward danger every day. We owe a debt of gratitude to our first responders.
It's amazing what a difference a day makes. The trees on the North Shore of #Pittsburgh exploded with blossoms overnight, and this morning I went down to capture them. I held my camera over my head and illuminated the branches with a flashlight as they framed the Warhol Bridge.

It is permissible in English for a preposition to be what you end a sentence with.
The idea that it should be avoided came from writers who were trying to align the language with Latin, but there is no reason to suggest ending a sentence with a preposition is wrong.
This city sticks to you.
There was a time where this was supposed to be our next stop, nothing more. There’s never been a destination.
“Pittsburgh sucks you in!” - I’ve heard it from so many people I’ve met here.
On nights like this, I get it. And I love it.
Thank you @GovernorShapiro for your leadership in expanding paid family leave for state employees in Pennsylvania. Now we need to prioritize passing paid family leave for ALL Pennsylvania families.

What a conversation yesterday at @PointParkU Center for Media Innovation "Restoring the Fourth Estate" on the crisis in local journalism. I am heartened to see journalists, community leaders, and educators pooling their creative and financial resources towards a solution.
51 % of the U.S. population is female.
However, woman are only:
28.2% of Congress
32.7% of State Legislatures
In PA, women constitute roughly 32% of the legislature, putting us at 26th for proportion of women.
In the southeast, the disparities are even greater.
Across much of the Southeast, state legislatures are more than 80% male.
This leaves mostly men controlling policy, including laws that most impact women, at a time when the Supreme Court is sending more power to statehouses. https://t.co/y6rVzfPmtQ
