Elderly neglect and abuse are very real and under recognized. It is quite common in the so called educated and well to do families also. When a doctor recognizes this, it can lead to animosity and negativity towards the doctor. A very delicate area and India doesn't have enough protocols and manpower to deal with this. We need social worker support to handle it effectively. #MedTwitter
This line from Atomic Habits isn't ready to leave my head:
"It doesn't make sense to continue wanting something if you're not willing to do what it takes to get it. If you don't want to live the lifestyle, then release yourself from the desire. To crave the result but not the process is to guarantee disappointment."
Study yourself. Your Patterns. Habits. Compulsions. Trauma. Anxieties. Insecurities. Addictions. Once you see them, the unconscious becomes conscious. And the moment you know what they are and how they control you, you awaken. You become unstoppable.
Major cheat code for life: Always assume things will work out, then do the work to make it true. It’s a mindset of active optimism. Earned faith. It creates a quiet confidence that allows you to tolerate the uncertainty of life better than anything else.
Your brain turns repeated avoidance into fear. The first time you avoid a task, it feels like relief. The fifth time, the same task feels scary. Avoidance trains fear to grow.
"The world is not designed to give you a good life. It's designed to distract you from building one."

Put on blinders and build.
Uncommon advice:
If you don't know what to pursue in life right now, pursue yourself.
Pursue becoming the healthiest, happiest, most healed, most present, most confident version of yourself. Then the right path will reveal itself.
There is an old African Proverb that I love:
“A cat that dreams of becoming a lion must lose its appetite for rats.”
To achieve greatness, you must let go of old habits that could hold back your progress.
A mentor once told me this: Reduce the amplitude of the wave. Never get too high on the wins. Never get too low on the losses. Emotional stability is the real cheat code for adapting to the inevitable uncertainty of life.
This sentence by Van Gogh hits hard:
“If I am worth anything later, I am worth something now. For wheat is wheat, even if people think it is a grass in the beginning.”
A mentor once told me this: Fall in love with feeling like a work in progress. Resist the urge to look polished. You don’t need to pretend you have it all figured out. Nobody does. Embrace your unfinished form. Just commit to getting a better each day and trust where it leads.
Mark Manson on how to win at life:
1. Commit to doing a hard thing.
2. Do the hard thing.
3. Feel good about doing the hard thing.
4. Become someone who enjoys doing hard things.
Marcus Aurelius wrote this over 1800 years ago:
“Everything that happens is either endurable or not. If it’s endurable, then endure it. Stop complaining.”
One thing that made LFTs much easier for me was stopping looking at them as individual numbers.
Instead, I started asking what each test is actually telling me.
Since then, I’ve been dividing every LFT into 3 groups, and interpretation has become much more straightforward.
1. Is the liver injured?
Major life hack: Don't complain, ever. Nobody likes a complainer. They drain the energy of everyone around them. It's exhausting spending time around someone who constantly complains about things outside their control. If it's within your control, go do something about it. If it's not, you're just wasting energy thinking about it. Complaining gives too much power to the thing. Take back that power.
